Be empowered into the joys of leading chanting (kirtan) with courageous devotion. Experience the shakti of the Goddess chanting through you and empowering you to lead your students to the ocean of bliss! As we let go of the fears of our identity we realise that chanting is happening naturally through our own very unique vessel.
This training day is for you to discover the chanting/kirtan leader within you. You will be fully empowered in transforming your fears of chanting solo to a room of students or members of the public.
You will gain the confidence by the end of the day to lead a complete chant from start to finish in front of the entire group. You will experience for yourself the ecstasy of leading and being a unique channel through which the shakti can flow and uplift others. You will feel prepared to bring this new chant into your class as a teacher and as a practice that you can use daily to anchor yourself in your core for daily living.
1.Lose your fear of your voice being heard
2.Learn a chant at a level that you can lead it at the event
3.Receive practical and accessible tools to lead
4.Learn to trust the Shakti within you

6.Have the opportunity to lead a chant in one of Katy’s classes.

Nikki Slade has pioneered voice and sound work in the UK since 1990. During her earlier career as an actress and singer she performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal National Theatre, developing the abilities to work with audiences large and small.
Initially, Nikki was inspired by the power of sound through the sacred chants of Eastern traditions. Nikki has studied with teachers who specialise in the transforming power of the voice, and would like to express her deep gratitude to her friend and teacher Chloë Goodchild.
Nikki offers individual and group Voicework to everyone from business people to performers and the general public. Her corporate appearances include conferences and workshops for companies such as Orange, Boots, Thornton’s and Halfords, and she has worked with the Central School of Speech and Drama and the London School of Musical Theatre. Nikki has led workshops for the NHS and Wandsworth Prison and works regularly at The North London Priory Hospital on the addiction treatment programme.
Founder and Director of appleyoga, Katy Appleton has been practising yoga since 1995 and has taught internationally as a registered teacher (E-RYT 500 level) with the Yoga Alliance since 1999.
Originally a soloist ballet dancer, she danced across the world with the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet, complimenting her dance career with the power of yoga’s movements, breathing and relaxation techniques. This background as a dancer gives her an extraordinary vision into how bodies move and influences her understanding of posture, alignment and energetic flow. Her integrated teaching style involves an eclectic mix of dynamic vinyasa, bhakti yoga, (the heart essence path), structured alignment, philosophy, mantra, sufi poetry and wicked musical vibes.
Katy has studied many different styles with some of the world’s leading practitioners, and draws on these experiences to teach her own form of yoga, known worldwide as appleyoga. The appleyoga brand has published several yoga books and five bestselling DVDs by Katy and she also appears regularly on Sky TV.
Katy famously instructed Geri Halliwell in her yoga transformation in 2003. They created the best selling yoga DVD ‘Geri Yoga’, which broke worldwide sales records of over half a million copies and continues to hold the title of best selling fitness video of all time.
