About the Concert
Join Nikki Slade for an evening of kirtan and song that will capture Nikki’s journey from her popular book The Healing Power of Chanting where she candidly shares for the benefit of the reader her perilous past in her youth in alchohol and drug addiction. In 1989 she experienced a spiritual “emergency” with a powerful kundalini awakening through chanting after which a strong seed was sewn for the habit of addiction to leave her.
Nikki will sing the chants from the book with everyone that were instrumental in pulling her out of her “dark night of the soul” she will also share how before kirtan came into her life that singing was a significant sign post in her youth for a future that was destined to unfold. She will also sing a couple of songs that were important to her back then and their place in her kirtan journey.
Chanting has been Nikki’s constant companion over 30 yrs and she now delights in sharing this practice with hundreds of people in the UK and around the world.
Nikki will be joined on the night by tabla tOM on tablas Letizia Ghisletta on harmonium Alys Hennessey on percussion and friends
